How Should Patients with ESRF be Responsible for Themselves?

To be responsible for themselves, ESRF patients should not only actively cooperate with doctors on drugs and dialysis treatment in hospital, but also have effective self-management in action. Then what should they do to be responsible for themselves?
Do not use antique cooking utensils, because they are coated with pigment made from cadmium.
Have low protein diet. End-stage renal failure patients should have low protein diet. Healthy people need protein of 1-1.5 grams per kilogram of body weight, and patients with ESRF should take in less than 0.5 grams per kilogram of body weight so as to reduce the generation and retention of nitrogen mass metabolites in the body.
Avoid chemicals which could damage kidneys.
Have enough rest. ESRF patients should have enough rest and good nourishment. Remember that they should not engage in high intensity activities.
Limit intake of food high in cadmium. Mussels, scallops, oysters, vegetables grown in sludge, animal livers, food made from kidneys, flounders and other foods are rich in cadmium, and patients with ESRF should have less intake of them.

Once patient are found to have polycystic kidney disease, they should inform their parents, children and siblings to have check in hospital so as to have timely treatment.
If patients with renal nephritis are difficult to recover from influenza, they should be careful that whether their renal function is damaged or not.
