Does Renal Failure Patient Need To Drink More Water?

Many renal failure patients think water could help get rid of toxins, water really can help getting rid of toxins,but too much water is not good for health. Generally, when the urine output is less than 500ml, the excretion of wastes will be affected and the possibility of presenting metabolic disorders will be increased, such as, hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis.
However, this does not mean the more water, the better the efficacy. Due to a drop in glomerular filtration function and tubular reabsorption, too much water will increase the burden of kidneys to a large extent. If left uncontrolled for a long time, complications including severe swelling, high blood pressure, cardiac hypertrophy, pulmonary edema, heart failure, etc may occur. In serious condition, patients’ life will be threatened.
On the other hand, as the renal function of concentration is damaged, the urine volume of individuals may exceed 3000ml. If the intake of water is not sufficient, dehydration may appear, what’s more, kidney function will be affected.
After reading this words, renal failure patients should know they can’t drink too much water, proper intake of water is good for illness.
